Importing them is doable but slow and not very “user friendly”. So, I bought MidiPlayer X to get a quick listen, in order to decide what to import. Works great! Very fast, simple, intuitive. Just what I needed. neuro2go

I have been given a dump of MIDI file and need to rename them all based on their characteristics. Since MIDI preview is no longer available in OS X, I was using EZKeys, but it’s a slow process, plus it only uses piano sounds which doesn’t help with drum parts. With MIDIPlayer X, I literally just drag the loop into the window and it immediately starts playing. NICE. It is well worth the price I paid considering the time it saves me. richbajo

Can drop individal files, multiple files or folders onto MidiPlayerX (but not folders containing subfolders). When previewing multiple files, the name of only the current file being played is displayed, with arrows to move to next/previous file. To preview files in a large collection, the simplest way is to first Change All midi files to Open with MidiPlayer X (rt-click a midi file, then select Get Info for the option), then simply open a Folder of midi files in Finder, then Double-click each file in turn to preview them. grandadpete

13 Jan 2019 methodred MIDIPlayer X, Reviews Tags: macappstore, midiplayerx, usa Leave a comment Exactly what I needed ★★★★★ MIDIPlayer X is a great app for just playing MIDI files, which is exactly what I needed; I have other music apps that can play MIDI files, however, they also do lots of other things, so it is an overkill when I just want to enjoy my MIDI files. Also, MIDIPlayer X uses OS X/macOS’s built-in synth, which is based on (or at least sounds just like) Roland’s Sound Canvas; this is what I used when sequencing my MIDI songs, so MIDIPlayer X allows my MIDI songs to sound just like they do on my external Roland synth, something that GarageBand does not do so well. Great functionality at a great price! wagill
10 Aug 2018 methodred MIDIPlayer X, Reviews Tags: japan, macappstore, midiplayerx Leave a comment No complaints as simple MIDI file playback software ★★★★★ Yamaha’s MidRadio Player, the High Sierra built-in GM synth has stopped ringing. I tried searching for a substitute application, but few decent things. TMidity’s Cocoa version, etc., interface is too old and hard. There is another cheap player application on the Mac App Store, but that was very hard to use. I do not feel like buying Sweet Plug Player because it costs more than 3,000 yen. This application is saved, because you can normally play GM without excess or deficiency. The quality of SC – xx – like sound source is also necessary enough. Switching MIDI output destinations can be done quickly, and channels can be turned on and off easily. Meter and BPM are also displayed, and there is no problem with seeking. As a decent MIDI SMF player with 64 bit compatibility, it may be one of this choice for now. Google translated ( maybe a bit coarsely … ) saiougauma
02 Apr 2018 methodred MIDIPlayer X, Reviews Tags: macappstore, midiplayerx, uk Leave a comment Thank you for the music ★★★★★ Got hold of an ancient Roland Atelier with misbehaving screen and wanted to check the midi. Sibelius wouldn’t output to it. Quick Time doesn’t work any more, why? Most other programs use Mac sound sources. MidiplayerX to the rescue. Only one crash so far. Phlop
02 Jan 2018 methodred MIDIPlayer X, Reviews Tags: macappstore, midiplayerx, usa Leave a comment Very fast support ★★★★★ Had a problem with my reading expertise. I mean, when I see push on a door, I’m supposed to pull, right? However, when I emailed them that my music wouldn’t cycle to the next song, they answered right away (even on New Years Day, I might add) to keep clicking autoplay until it turns blue. They weren’t smart alecks and didn’t tell me to go back and read the instructions, dummy. For two bucks this is a great program. Piano David
