Does exactly what it says it does. ★★★★

It’s billed as a MIDI player and that’s exactly what it does. Very simple. The only thing it doesn’t do is display text material that may be found in the MIDI file. Some people who create MIDI files devote a track or two to the title of the piece, composer, person who sequenced it, or other useful information. This player displays only the first 35 characters of the title. If it did a better job with that part of the MIDI data, it would be perfect for me.

Works great with digital pianos ★★★★★

If you own a digital piano and want to turn it into a “player piano” this simple MIDI app does the trick. I own a Yamaha P-85 and while it comes with a decent collection of built-in demo songs, I’ve always wanted to add more. Well, this app accomplishes just that. Connect your Mac via USB MIDI cable and enjoy! Thanks MethodRed!

Does what it’s supposed to do ★★★★★

MIDIPlayer X plays midi files – ‘is that it?’ I hear you say. Well, ‘Yes’. However, it does it well, it does it every time and, if like me you have thousands of music files in midi format which Apple has decided is no longer relevant (who do they think they are?), this little App fills a very large hole in OS X. I like the fact that ther are some minor adjustments you can make to the midi whilst listening to it (speed up/down and display in beats/seconds). I’ve tried a plethora of midi apps trying to find one that works every time, this is it!!! Recommended.

Best $1.99 MIDI file player in the APP store ★★★★★

Simply the best $1.99 MIDI file player in the App Store. No other app under $14.99 lets you create a MIDI playlist, trigger VST virtual inputs, and save Type 0 files as channel separated Type 1 files.

Would love to see a few more features added to a Pro version in the furure:
1) When saving, remove files that were muted prior to saving. (FYI, anything else you change gets saved in the newly saved file)
2) Give users an option to save either type 1 filesor type 0 MIDI files. Currently, all files become type 1
3) Manually type in which bar to start playback from
4) Change key

Great job folks!!!

BINGO!!! ★★★★

It does exactly what it claims to do… Fast, simple and reliable… If you are searching for a way to listen to your rex files, outside Reason, with the same agility you’re used to do inside it, look no further. The only thing I missed (and missed a lot) was a volume control straight in the app (this explains my 4 stars instead of 5). Beside of that, it works like a breeze. Congrats for Method Red. Peace out.
